SEASONAL SUPPORT: Combating the Winter Blues
Believe it or not, it’s still winter.
Maybe that’s easier for you to believe than it is for me. Once the holidays are over I’m typically ready for spring. I wrote in a previous newsletter about how I tend to romanticize the next season before we’ve completed the one we’re in. It’s happening again. 😬
As an attempt to stay present in the moment (and season) as well as honor Mother Nature and let her do her thing, I’ve complied a list. If the winter weather feels daunting, I hope this list will help you see the light of spring at the end of this winterous (might’ve made that word up..) tunnel while still holding space for the here and now. Below is what I’ve been doing to fight the winter blues:
🥶Staying warm. Yes, I know. Seems obvious but I can’t tell you how many times I've left the house without a jacket or have been sitting on my couch shivering instead of simply grabbing a blanket, some socks and a cup of tea.
🥶Getting outside. We have a limited amount of daylight hours during the winter and when we’re lucky (as we often are here in CA) we get some direct sunlight. I open my blinds first thing every morning and spend as much time outside as I comfortably can. The sun is a natural mood booster, soak it up.
🥶Burning candles. My long nights are often accompanied by the soft, warm glow of a candle or two or three. The more the merrier, scented and unscented alike. They are just so cozy and inviting to me during the winter. Much more so than during any other season.
🥶Resting and reflecting. Winter is for resting so that we have the energy to bloom and blossom during spring. When I remind myself of this, I’m able to find some patience for warmer weather. Leaning into JOMO (joy of missing out) has been my savior. There is nothing happening out there in the cold that I actually want to do. The reality is that winter can be boring and that’s ok.

Star Report
It’s Aquarius season a.k.a. my favorite season because my birthday is on the 31st! Did you know Aquarius is the sign that rules astrology? Maybe because we are known for our futuristic foresight and “thinking outside the box”.
We are also known for our fierce independence, a love of learning and our unapologetic approach to life. This shows up in everything we do from the way we dress to the jobs we choose.
For example, because my sun is in Aqua in my 2nd house (of practicality, values and material possessions) it’s no surprise that I chose to support myself financially by:
1.) creating a business..
2.) that is rooted in unconventional practices..
3.) and that helps folks elevate their well being (oh yea, Aquarians are the humanitarians of the zodiac too).
See how that works? This is how a birth chart reading leads you down a road of self discovery.
Which house is the sign of Aquarius in for you? This is where you’re most encouraged to show up authentically. Tapping into Aquarian energy via the body happens through the calves, ankles and circulatory system. Think massage therapy, lymphatic drainage and stretches with focus on the lower legs.
Feel free to reply with questions and comments,
